My father, Donald William Ashe, actually he was my step father but he was the only father I ever knew. He served our country in both WWII and Korean War. He served in the South Pacific during WWII and on board various ships during the Korean War as a carpenter. I wish I knew more about his service and what ships he served on, but when he passed away in 1956 I was 8 years of age and I don't remember much of the stories he use to tell. The only thing I do remember about him during his service to our country, he had very sensitive hearing from the big guns going off on the battle ships.
Born: October 11, 1911 Died: May 3, 1956
Date of service: Enlisted: August 16, 1943 Discharged: October 21, 1945
Re-enlisted: March 5, 1951 Discharged: April 20, 1952
